Seneca Nation of Indians – Allegany Territory, Pennsy Trail

Seneca Nation of Indians (SNI) – Allegany Territory, Pennsy Trail Project was awarded the 2021 ACEC New York Engineering Excellence Silver Award under Special Project category.

Nussbaumer & Clarke, Inc. was the design engineer for the Pennsy Trail, which was developed on the abandoned railbed of what last-functioned as the Pennsylvania Railroad.  Nussbaumer’s Parks and Recreation Design Group worked closely with SNIDOT and the contractor, Seneca Construction Serivces, to help them capture and communicate their vision for improving pedestrian transportation and circulation and safety throughout the City of Salamanca on the Allegany Territory, culminating in a designated pedestrian thoroughfare that drastically increases connectivity by linking the western and eastern extents of the City, while also connecting multiple residential neighborhoods to local businesses and community services, and to each other.
